About Us

America's Durable Fiberglass Greenhouse Company

Our Commitment

More Than Three Decades of Greenhouse Innovation

Founded in 1991, Solar Gem Greenhouses have provided the optimum growing environment for those looking to grow spectacular flower, and/or robust, fresh vegetable gardens for over 30 years!

The Solar Gem Greenhouses is unique as they are single-piece molded fiberglass structures that do not require on-site assembly. More importantly, they do not have any structural parts or pieces to come loose, wear out, or deteriorate after a few years like most greenhouses.

These design features allow Solar Gem Greenhouses to remain ‘flexible’ and withstand the most rigorous weather conditions including high winds, extreme temperatures and snow for many, many years.

Not only are our greenhouses structurally superior and resilient, they are easy to install with no concrete, brick or wood foundation required, and with no permits for placement required in most cases.

Also, a Solar Gem Greenhouse can be easily relocated if/when necessary, and are backed with the best warranty in the industry!

To that end, the Company has now evolved into Solar Gem Grow Products… a premier source offering the Urban Farmer a host of new products and accessories including chicken coops, indoor hydroponic systems, while staying grounded to our founding roots by offering The Most Durable, Efficient Greenhouse on the Market!

Gardeners Everywhere are Taking Notice

Since 1991, the Solar Gem Greenhouse business model was focused almost exclusively on displaying and presenting our best-in-class greenhouses and accessories at Flower and Garden Shows, Home Improvement Shows, Fairs and the like, as we catered largely to growers living primarily in the Northwest.

During the early 2000’s we worked to develop a Dealer Program, but with inconsistent results, which led us to today’s Factory-direct Sales model in an effort to provide our products to you at the lowest cost possible by eliminating touch-points and additional overhead. As a result, if you live outside the Northwest, we are unable to direct you to a showroom.

Today, bolstered by a widely read 2013 article in Mother Earth News that highlighted the best backyard greenhouses available, public demand has grown very strong, and our distribution area has increased, now with Solar Gem Greenhouses in almost all 50 states!

By selling Factory Direct from our factory in Tacoma, WA, while using an enhanced E-marketing approach, we can provide you with a host of outstanding, real-life testimonials and photos from Solar Gem Greenhouse owners spanning our 33-year history! We can also send you a small fiberglass wall sample for you to examine the quality and durability of the product as a means to ensure your confidence prior to a purchase.

Visit our “Shop” page and pick out the greenhouse and accessories that are perfect for your needs and you’ll be backyard gardening with a new Solar Gem Greenhouse no matter where you live.

We hope you’ll take the opportunity to navigate around it and see why so many people swear by Solar Gem Greenhouses as the best YEAR-ROUND backyard greenhouses that money can buy. Let's grow!

About the Owners

The Family Behind Your Urban Farm

We are Darren & Deborah, an active husband-and-wife ownership, backed by an exceptional operations team that is here to provide you with the best greenhouse(s) and garden products on the market.

Having lived throughout the Northwest our whole lives, yet having traveled extensively, we have developed a deep appreciation for the environment and all that nature has to offer, and believe wholeheartedly in the mission and vision of Solar Gem Grow Products!

We believe in holistic living – healthy food, appreciation for nature, God, country, freedom to choose and community. We feel that now is a perfect time to draw together and expand our community of like-minded people who strive for a more wholesome life-style, while using their own backyard to produce heathy foods or just looking to challenge their ability to grow plants and connect with nature.

We want to help raise awareness to the power and beauty of the backyard garden, as much of today’s food is genetically modified, potentially exposed to pesticides or herbicides, generally picked before ripe, packaged and shipped many miles, and often times controlled by a handful of large food producers.

We believe that being able to grow more of what you eat is gaining importance by the day, which puts TRUE sustainability and environmental stewardship literally in everyone’s hands, and Solar Gem Grow Products at the center of it.

We wish you and your family the very best!

Darren & Deborah

The entire experience of getting a greenhouse with Solar Gem family business was fantastic. They had wonderful customer service and the entire process was smooth. I would highly recommend the company for their customer service and so far the greenhouse itself has exceeded our expectations. All of our plants have doubled in size in 1 week.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend this greenhouse and company! The service was friendly, professional, and responsive. The team went above and beyond during the entire process (ordering, delivery, and installation). The quality of the greenhouse is excellent. We've had ours for two growing seasons now; we appreciate the raised beds, deep planting trough, watering trays, water access, electricity/lights, and the general versatility of the interior (removable wooden slats). There's plenty of room and light for multi-tier growing. I am still learning about gardening, but I have grown tomatoes, peas (shelling and snap), lettuce, beets, spinach, potatoes, carrots, beans, onions, garlic, peppers, strawberries, and herbs in my Solar Gem greenhouse. We could not be happier with this purchase.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Exceptionally designed greenhouse for the PNW.Overwintered many of my tropicals with two 1500W heaters in this small greenhouse where the outside temperatures reached 7 degrees F, and maintained an internal temperature of 42F.
By mid to late January, the GH was venting with sunny days to 80 plus degree Temps, allowing the propagation of my pepper seedlings to larger containers.
April produced the best seedling tomatoes ever!
Great GH for cold climates!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I purchased my small Solar Gem in 2016. It was used, not sure of its age. I live in Steamboat Springs, CO, weather can be difficult. This past summer it was moved on the back of a pickup to my new house. Why am I telling you this…. We are having a record snow year and it is waiting for spring covered in snow. Very pleased with its durability, thought you might wonder.
